This loaf is probably the most fragrant recipe I have ever tried. The smell of orange zest, juice and milk is divine. From the moment you combine the ingredients until you pull it out of the oven, you will fall in love with the flavour profile of this dessert. I used the recipe from platter talk and adjusted the bake time.

Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

zest of 1 orange

juice of 1 orange

1/2 cup finely diced crystal ginger

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup milk

2 eggs

1 stick (1/2 cup) melted and chilled butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease loaf pan (8×4 or 9×5). I used 9×5 inches.

2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add orange zest, ginger and chocolate chips ad gently combine.

3. In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, butter, orange juice and vanilla. Gently mix wet and dry ingredients.

4. Pour batter into tray. Bake for 55 minutes and make sure a toothpick comes out clean.

Chill, slice and savour!
